Drug & Alcohol Testing and Workplace Medicals

Drug and Alcohol Testing

At ICG Academy, we are a trusted and long-established provider of drug and alcohol testing services across the UK. Our procedures and chain of custody protocols are built around the highest industry standards, guided by our RISQS (Rail Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme) accreditation. This ensures we consistently deliver a gold-standard service to every client - from workplace testing and public access services to specialised support for solicitors, social services, and government departments.

THE DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING PROCESS:

DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING PROCESS:

The candidate will be invited into the clinic to complete paperwork and confirm their identity prior to the test taking place. The candidate will initially receive a briefing which explains the procedure in detail and the candidate will be required to sign their acceptance of this process. The candidate is then required to complete a document for all relevant personal information and supply their photographic identification prior to the testing beginning.

The drug and alcohol testing process encompasses using a breathalyser, to test the concentration of alcohol in the candidates' breath supply. The NWR limit is 0.13. Any candidate that tests over this on 3 subsequent blows, will receive a positive test result, and this will result in a ban.

The Drug test encompasses a urine supply from the candidate that uses technology within a 'POCT' (point of Contact Testing) that can detect the usage of 9 different drugs within the same. The candidate will be required to supply a sample that reaches the minimum limit stated on the cup under conditions set by the sample collector. The sample will then need to process for 5-7 minutes and the detection of drug analysis will appear on the testing panel.

If the POCT detects the inclusion of drugs, the testing officer will be required to send the sample to the laboratory for confirmation testing. These results will be returned within 5-7 working days.  All results are uploaded to sentinel within 24 hours of the testing result conclusion, and notifications are emailed to the primary sponsor.
